get ready for SWEET OLIVIER our new fashion line

Let's have a party everybody, the LCEF came through again and granted us our requested grant amount!! The line will feature fashion design and artwork by Michelle Beatty and Sarah Dunn. An organic line featuring fashions created from organic cotton, silks, bamboo, and hemp fabrics. All fabrics will feature hand screened or digital images by none other but Beatty and Dunn.

Our new studio located on Alix & Olivier was the inspiration for our new brand name. More info to come... right now I gotta experiment with dyes :)

I had such a blast with the kids in Meghan's class! We got through about 7 classes and while Meghan taught them how to create some amazing art of their own I talked to them about color and inspiration.

So much fun!!!

My first place design at New Orleans' Worn Again fashion show is featured in the very crafty national magazine Altered Couture!!

I was given a bag of old clothes and bits of fabric that I (a first time seamstress with a 3 hour course under my belt) was to recreate into a runway worthy garment competing along some of New Orleans' top designers. Oxygen's BGC picked New Orleans to film the latest season of their hit show Bad Girls Club. They chose the former home of NBA coach Byron Scott for filming and had powerhouse designers Jeff Eyser and Alexis Karpf remake it into any woman's dream house. The space was complete with a 400 sq. ft. make- up room but they had yet to find a New Orleans artist with the kind of vibrant contemporary feel they were looking for. Their search for a local artist ended the second they found Sarah Ruth's website full of every shade of pink imaginable. Watch the behind the scenes video with designer Jeffrey Eyser here.

Sarah Dunn Arts Wins New Orleans' Recycled Fashion Show

Worn Again was New Orleans' first sustainable fashion show created in 2007. Each designer is given a bag of old clothing and material pieces to create a new garment for the runway. We were given a bag of some of the most wretched articles of clothing one could imagine. Below are some shots of the show. We were fortunate enough to get 2 yards of upholstery fabric which we were able to make into some amazing looking faux fur, check out the how to here.
